Living and dining areas usually get planned first, since they set the tone for the rest of the home. Bedrooms follow, then kitchen and utility spaces — though in practice, all of these are considered together so materials and design language stay consistent throughout.
Budget allocation logic
Rather than spreading a budget evenly across every room, it usually makes more sense to weight spend toward the spaces used most — kitchen, living room, and primary bedroom — and keep guest or secondary spaces simpler.
Material sequencing
Flooring, wardrobe and kitchen material decisions are best locked in early, since they affect what else can be coordinated around them — lighting, furniture tone, and wall finishes all follow from those choices.
